Going back to freelancing | The Monthly Log #11
Ok.. if this year is anything like this first month then its going to be a GREAT year 🎉
January has been one of the most productive months I’ve had in ages - I managed to launch a new Framer template, a tiny web app and my agency website.
I even got a post on X that went semi viral last week.
What a way to start the year!
I’m thinking about experimenting a little bit with these monthly logs to try different things and see what works and what doesn’t. Ultimately I started writing these logs to review what I’ve done throughout the month and also share and write about my work publicly - this won’t change but the structure of the logs might change a bit.
So this is what happened this month:
Linkd Framer template
I had the idea for this Framer template for months but I only managed to sit down and build it over the Christmas break. Linkd is a template to help you create your own custom Link in Bio page (an alternative to Linktree and other similar tools).
It’s aimed at the Entertainment industry with a full screen profile picture at the top (instead of the usual round avatar) and with a horizontal navigation to quickly access different sections on the page. I’ve also included 4 pre-made layouts in the paid version, but otherwise the original template is available for free.
Onedo
Another goal I have this year is to level up my coding skills. After starting several times to learn React using various courses (did someone say tutorial hell?) I’ve now managed to finish one and develop the project further to turn it into my own little web app.
Onedo is a tiny web app to help you stop getting distracted and focus on one task at a time to increase your productivity.
I built this app for my personal use with a minimal design and the only 2 features I needed:
- Select the task I want to work on now
- Add more tasks which become visible only once the current task is completed.
It’s now live on a domain and I’m trying to see if there’s some interest from other people to us it. If there’s enough interest then the plan will be to turn this into a full stack app with logins, etc..
Going back to Freelance
I know all the self-made gurus on 𝕏 tell you to stop selling your time and sell digital products instead but I decided to go back into freelance this year. You can say whatever you want but providing services is the quickest way to get some cash in.
I spent the last year focusing on honing my Framer skills and releasing a series of templates so I decided to turn 88 Pixels into a web agency specialising in Framer design and development. And since everyone is offering unlimited design subscriptions at the moment I though I’d stand out by offering hourly packages 😁
So if you need some help with your Framer website or want to get a brand new website built then get in touch.
