Goals vs Systems | The Monthly Log #6
Where did this month go?! I can still see myself on the first day of June writing down everything I’m planning to do this month as if it was yesterday. And here we are, already the first of July, and I haven’t even done half of what I had planned.
The return of the good weather definitely had an impact on my level of productivity/focus and I also had to prioritise some freelance projects (for the $$$). I think I also lost interest in some of the projects I’m currently running for a few days but the motivation is back now.
I still managed to get some big wins this month - one of my templates got featured on the Framer marketplace and I crossed 1,000 orders (all time) in my shop this month too.
I’ve been thinking about how I could make next month a bit more productive and decided to run a little experiment. For the month of July I’m going to set up 1 main goal for each of my projects - to know in which direction I want to take them - and then only focus on setting up systems that will help me achieve these goals.
If you want to find out more about this “Goals vs Systems” concept you can check out this article from James Clear.
I also came across this tweet from Thomas Frank that made me realise I’m focusing too much on the never ending list of tasks I need to do without ever looking back at what I have actually achieved. So this month I’m going to experiment keeping a log with what I do on a daily basis.
I’ll report back in next month’s log.
THIS MONTH I CREATED..
Notor
Following on a soft launch on my Twitter in May my Notor template - a landing page for Notion creators - got approved and listed on the Framer marketplace in June. On the back of this, the template was downloaded over 1,000 times in less than 3 weeks(!). I’ve learnt a lot from this experiment and I’m working on a Twitter thread/newsletter to share my learnings.
If you’re a digital creator and sell Notion templates you might want to check it out.

CURRENTLY, I’M…
📘 Reading:
The Embedded Entrepreneur, by Arvid Kahl - I got this eBook earlier this year when Arvid did a huge sale for a couple of days but didn’t get a chance to get into it until this week. I’m a big fan of his work and Twitter account so I can’t wait to get stuck into this one.
🎧 Listening:
The Koe Cast by Dan Koe - a recent addition to my podcast rotation. I started going for runs again this month and it’s the perfect length for a 3-5K run. I really enjoy how straight to the point he is.
📺 Watching:
The Undoing - not the most recent series but this is a Masterpiece. Full stop.
COOL SH*T
Call To Inspiration - the ultimate site for website design inspiration, packed with screenshots from actual websites and arranged by types of components/sections.
How to apply Colour Palette to your Design - a thorough video going through the 60-30-10 rules when it comes to applying a colour palette to a website.
Boring business ideas - found out this guy on Twitter who is on a mission to share boring internet businesses that make money. He tweets a different business every day so worth a follow.
Thanks for reading this log - you can find the previous ones here if you fancy checking them out. And if you liked this post please consider sharing it :)
